Hi Skyla,
I plan NOAH-PA events. This spring -April or May 2007- I will be planning an event in the Philadelphia area. I will tell you what you ask, adults only, is almost out of the question. In the two events that I have had in the Philly area if the event is set for only adults our numbers would be way too low. Usually, when you reserve a location to have an event they require a minimum number.
What I could do is compromise and have a "layered event". Something during the day for families and interested adults and then a separate gathering that same evening for adults only. I would hope that adults would attend the event planned for family interests also. Believe me parents need to see successful, happy adults with albinism. As adults with albinism I feel I have a responsibility to reassure parents with young/teen children.
My long range sketchy plan is to have a NOAH event in Philadelphia area this spring. We will be having the NOAH Family Camp this summer in Mt. Union, PA and in the Fall of 2007 I will plan an event in the Harrisburgh area.
If you are on the NOAH mailing list you will be getting a quick NOAH-PA newsletter sometime in January 2007. I would urge you to join NOAH to ensure you get all the NOAH news from PA, The NOAH office does the printing and mailing of fliers for NOAH-PA
Skyla, get your bowling shoes out and polished. This is very important. In March NOAH will have a national bowl-a-thon and there will be bowling groups in the Philadelphia area. (I'll let you in on a little secret. I am the WORLD"S WORS BOWLER; I am 60 and when I heard bowl-a-thon I thought Oh God. Well, I went and did it with a group here in Scranton and had a ton of fun.) The monies raised in this bowl-a-thon directly benefit NOAH of PA as well as other NOAH groups and events around the country.
If you wish to contact me I can be reached at Maryomutt@aol.com. Put NOAH in the subject line. Again let me tell you I am happy to have met you on the AOC and hope to see you at future NOAH-PA events.
