Low vision driving in the UK

     Hello everyone!

I don't know what my exact vision is but I was wondering if anyone had any information about low vision driving in the UK? As far as I am aware there is currently no way I can drive over here due to my vision. My vision is only slightly below what it needs to be to drive but it does not make a difference.

Any info would be a big help xxx

    Hi

Not sure what your eye condition is and how it effects you. There is a web site called bioptic driving network which has information on a device called a bioptic which may help people to drive. In the UK, the DVLA are unsure about their use. It is up to the DVLA if they allow you to drive with the bioptic.

    Hope this is helpful

    Hi Roxy.

I know this is an old thread but If you still want info about driving in the UK then I can help.  I have ocular albanism and was told from when I was old enought to understand that I would never drive and don't have enough vision to drive. Alough I consider my self to have good level of sight I just couldn't read a plate no matter how hard I tried, couldn't even get close.  I passed my test 2 months ago using a very discrete biotic that sits in the lense.  Not like the big ones you may have seen.  It was a dream come true.

If you want more info just let me know.  I will give you my number.

    Natalie
