My son, Zachary, has OCA and is 4 years old.
During the past year, I bought a TV stand and got rid of our entertainment center. In the entertainment center, the TV sat about 6 inches higher than on the TV stand. Before purchasing the TV stand, I actually put him in a little chair (rocker) and sat him in front of the TV and measured how high the TV stand should be. Then I found the stand to fit him. Sometimes, he actually lays on his little fold out couch and watches TV and does quite well. However, either way, he is about 3-4 feet away--so he is pretty close.
We have a 27 in. TV and most likely will purchase a 40 in TV in the next year. However, he does fine with the 27 in. TV--it is more my husband who wants the bigger TV.
I also switched around our living room (I had the cable guy reroute the cable line) so that the TV was not getting the glare and sun from the windows. We have 7 windows just in our living room--5 being a big bay window. It actually bothered me alot and I wanted to switch the living room so the Christmas tree could fit better. It took alot of planning, but it worked out for everyone--including the Christmas tree.
By the way, the cable company didn't charge me anything to switch my cable line and he put in alot of time. I called his boss to tell her what a great job he did and how he helped my son.
