Taking photos of kids with albinism

Does anyone have any tips on preventing the redish-purple color of the irises in flash photographs?  I've tried changing the color in photoshop, but it doesn't work very well, and if I use the red-eye removal tool it turns his whole iris black, not just the pupil!

You will have a much easier time with an SLR camera and a flash that sits on top of the camera.  The further away that the flash is from the lens, the better!  I use both an SLR film and an SLR digital.  Also, with an attached flash, you can bounce the flash off the ceiling or wall..............works really well.  Good luck.

I agree with Linda. A digital SLR camera is the best option. I just bought one and even though they are expensive (about $400 plus the bounce flash) I can finally pictures that look like my son and use a flash. Plus I NEVER have to re touch anyone's eyes

They key is using the camera with a bounce flash so the flash does not go directly in the eye.

Thanks!  I'm glad you liked it.   I need a new camera too.  I keep saying I'm going to get one, but $500 is a bit more than I can afford to spend on anything these days...especially with the trip to Vegas coming up in like 6 weeks.   Plus I want to be able to devote the time needed to learn how to use a digital SLR camera.   Time is something I never have these days. Stick out tongue

    Hello

I have just the flim camra I take a piece of scoth tape and put it over the flash it really helps with the red eyes and the pics still turn out great. I would love to get a new camera but I really can't afford it with buying Bethany glassess and the Vegas trip coming up.

Re: Taking photos of kids with albinism

Thanks, I'll have to try that.   I've tried everything else, to help reduce it's intensity of the flash. I've put small pieces of a coffee filter, paper, index card, and 2 index cards put together, over the flash.  By the time any of the pieces became thick enough to impact the red-eye, the pictures became too dark overall.
Maybe tape will do something different. Big Smile

I have the Olympus E-500. My sister has a Nikon D40 or the Cannon's are also good. I know Sony just came out with one too.

You can always try ebay for a older model Digital SLR for a cheap price. I know the Olympus E-300 and E-400 are not too expensive. I also know most places now sell the Nikon for about $400 on sale now
