    IEP Project Status

Does anyone know what happened to the project to collect IEPs?  I was told this was going on during the conference, but no one had a contact.

    Thanks,

Re: IEP Project Status - ***Please help***

I am submitting this again.  I got no responses the first time.  I really would like to know where the IEP collection project is and how I can get my hands on IEPs.

I have a critical struggle with our son's education.  We chose to hold him back from Kindergarten.  He is a boy, has later birthday (May), is small for his age, and finally he is visually impaired.  While his father and I believe he may be academically ready, we feel that socially and mentally he needs some time to mature.  The school district therapists recommended he be sent to kindergarten, stating he is academically ready.  As a result, when it came time for the IEP, they told us they were going to suspend his IEP until he entered Kindergarten next year.

I need good and bad IEPs to help be guide the school district as to what Mark needs this year.  I believe the IEPs that we have as a group could really help me out.

Re: IEP Project Status - ***Please help***

     Debbie,

I would call Lori from NOAH and ask her or send a direct email to her at info@albinism.org  I am already dealing with similar issues as I am beginning the process of preparing for Lyra's transition service when she turns 3. The other day, Lately I've been asking more questions about the process and one of the first things out of Lyra's family service coordinators mouth the other day was, "...but remember, when she is 3 she'll have to QUALIFY for services."  As if Lyra would be caught up so much that she didn't need them.   She doesn't know me too well... If she did, she would know that I know how to play this ballgame and I will make sure that Lyra receives the services she needs.

I know of a couple local resources that could possible help you.  Email me and I can send you more information.  Smile

    Debbie:

You have probably already found this site, but www.wrightslaw.com has helped me a lot to understand what our rights are and to guide me through Zach's IEP when he starts Kindergarten next fall.
