    How do I do a ?-a-thon

There hasn't been anything in my state (TN) and my husband and I are determined to do a thing-a-thon. For you parents that have done them, got any advice? We really want to do it well and get lots of community awareness going and publicity. I already have a couple of contacts for a news station. Any notes, advice, things that you would've done differently, let me know. Loved meeting you all. I already have great plans financial and otherwise to go to the next conference. We had so much fun. Also, I'm starting a mom's with children with low vision group this year. Has anyone begun one in your area?

I am not sure how you start that, but I am sure that Lori could probably help you or put you into contact with somebody that could help.  info@albinism.org

    Amy,

There will lots of mailings and info in Albinism Insight as the time gets closer.  We did our first bowl a thon this past Feb and it went really well.  We just invited friends and family and kept it pretty small cuz we didn't know what we were doing!  We raised about 1400.  We did not do pledge bowling, instead we got a sponsor to cover the cost of bowling and pizza and then had a donation bucket for NOAH.  People came, bowled and ate for free and donated the money they would have spent and more to NOAH.  It was a fun time and there are some things I will do a little differently next year.  NOAH also does a site with events.org during the bowl a thon.  We recieved several donations thru that site from people who were too far away to come to the bowl a thon. Hope this helps.

    Kelli
