My little boy who will be 11 weeks old tomorrow has started to turn his head to the right.  My TVI and I noticed it on Tuesday when she was working with him.  Could this be the start of his null point?  At what ages did your children start to use a null point?

Ryker was probably 3-4 months when we noticed him focusing better in one position as he tracked objects.  He didn't really begin to "use" it on his own til  about 13-14 mos.  He now has a chin down and tilts to the right to get his best vision.  I would say that it's possible for Jathan to see things better in a certain position at his age.  Our OT printed out basic shapes and faces in large black print and I constantly tracked them in front of Ryker in all positions,distances, and settings.  I gave some to daycare to use during diaper changes, in his bouncy seat, ect.  I just felt the more oppurtunities I gave him to use his sight, the better at it he would become.  I would encourage Jathan to look in both directions so one eye doesn't get weaker than the other.  Hope this helps.

Andy is 18 months and has not shown any signs yet. His vision teacher has focused his vision to the center of his nose since he was 7 months. One of the reason why we are seeing dr. Hertle is so he can tell us where is null point is. Also, to see is Andy is using both his eyes or just his left. He seems to suppress his right eye.  Vickie, I called for Rose and have yet to hear back. I am going to try again today. That would be wonderful to see you again so soon if we get the same day appointment! We do not think Andy needs any surgery for his nystagmus, but that wavelength test is what we really want to know. That is the 1st appointment we have then Hertle a few hours later.

Also, when Andy's nystagmus started it was a constant "scanning". Once he hit 12 months or so, it has slow to a jiggle counterclockwise motion.

Maybe Andy will be lucky and have a straight forward null point!   It will be interesting to see what Dr. Hertle says.  Keep us updated!

When Lexie started her belly crawls that is when I noticed.  She would stop and twist up and around to one side to see us.
