Hi, We just moved to Olathe, KS. We need to find a pediatrician immediately for my two kids, as well as a pediatric opthamologist for my daughter with albinism. Can anyone recommend good physicians in the Kansas City metro area? Thanks! Brigid Mayer

Welcome to Kansas City.  Our pediatric opthamologist is Trudi Grin (913) 888-1888 .  She is very good and many of the kids in KC with Albinism go to her.  I am not that happy with my current pediatrician, so I would not recommend her.

We create a yahoo group to communicate with those locally who have albinism.  We had a picnic last month and will do the bowl-a-thon in February.  To subscribe send an email to  midwest_noah-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

Also, I don't know how old your daughter is but www.ccvi.org is a great resource and has a great preschool.  Mark went when he was 2.

Dr. Trudi Grin is our 2 year old daughter's pediatric opthalmologist too.  We LOVE Dr. Grin.  She has been Lyra's PO since birth.

We have a great pediatrician.  Her name is Dr. Rozina Mohiuddin.  Her office is at KU MedWest which is just off I435 and Renner.  All 3 of my kids have been seeing her since they were babies.  She has had other patients with albinism in the past and she really does know the facts about albinism.  She is easy to talk to and get along with.  The kids like her too...which is a plus.

My children see Dr. Daniel Smith at Children's Mercy Hospital and I love him. Michael also had his nystagmus surgery there by Dr. Cibis and not only was I impressed with him but I have found oter parent in southwestern MO who had him as an eye surgeon as well and loved him.

Both of my children see Dr. Laura Plummer at Children's Mercy Hospital.  She is excellent.  We travel 2 hours to see her and absolutely love her.  We have also found an excellent dermatologist and genetics doctor there as well.  If you would like you can e-mail for their names and information if you are in need of them as well.  Welcome to Missouri and Good Luck finding a doctor that you like.

We also see Dr. Laura Plummer at Childrens Mercy...She is amazing....She always has tons of time for us and is great at answering questions and providing info...We drive 2 hours and it is well worth it...
