Hello All-
I took both my sons to the pediatric dermotologist the other day and he gave me a nice handout on sunscreens. In a nutshell, this is what it said:
*make sure it has UVA and UVB protection
*It should contain ONE of the following ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Parsol 1789 (avobenzone) or Ecamsule
*It should contain a photostabilizer (ocotcrylene)--it extends the duration of some protection. (I think this is a new thing)
So, I use Coppertone Water Babies (50) and it contains all of the recommendations. He also said that sprays are not good--especially for the initial spray. He HIGHLY recommended the rashguard shirts for swimming. I started to ask my friends and they buy them at Target or Lands End. Lands End was highly recommended--but the doctor buys his at Dicks Sporting Goods too. I already purchased 2 at Target and will purchase more at Lands End. The doctor said that Sun Precautions is too expensive and the ones they sell now at Target are good (get at least 20-30 SPF).
Zach looked good--he has some moles (they are clear/pinkish) on his head that I never even noticed. They are just regular moles, but definitely not like his brothers. The doctor said to bring him being in 1 or 2 years--he wasn't concerned.
