Dear AOC Member,
On the weekend of December 1, 2006, NOAH will be making some exciting changes to the Albinism Online Community that we think will enhance your AOC experience. Most notably, we are transitioning to some new software that will change the look and feel of the AOC.
This new software offers a number of exciting featur
A more streamlined forum presentation with treeview navigation that can be turned on and off by each user.
You can track posts via an RSS feed or e-mail.
You can customize your AOC experience by changing the size of the font, changing the order in which posts are displayed, and many other new features.
You can easily view the most active discussions, discussions you are involved in, and those posts that have gone unanswered as of yet.
We have done some user testing of this new software, and the consensus is that it offers a far less “clunky” way for members of the albinism community to interact with each other. We are also working hard to preserve previous posts and transition user names, so you’ll be able to pick up your conversation right where you left off!
Here’s What Will Happen
Starting on Friday, December 1, you’ll be able to read posts on the old version of the AOC, but you’ll no longer be able to post new messages. This is so we can transfer user names and most old posts to the new AOC. Sometime that weekend, the new software will come online and you’ll go to the new AOC automatically when you type
http://community.albinism.org in your web browser or access it through NOAH’s homepage. There is no need to change bookmarks or links, as the process will be automatic.
Passwords
You should be able to log into the new AOC using the same user name and password you used for the old AOC. However, in some cases the system resets passwords that did not meet the validation requirements of the new system. If you have problems logging in using your user name and password, click on "Forgot password" enter you email address, and the system will send the password to you.
Special Thanks!
Special thanks goes to Tim Laughlin for his expertise in moving this project forward from a technical standpoint. We’d also like to thank Pandora Systems, of which Tim is a founder, for their in-kind donation of server space to run the new AOC.
