Blue Turtle,
If
you are here in the United
States there are two blindness organizations
that offer scholarships. The organizations are the National Federation of Blind
and the American Council of the Blind. Both
of these organizations offer college scholarships to blind and visually
impaired students. You only have until either the 1st or the 15th
March depending on which one of the organizations you fill the application and accompanying
forms that will allow them to make the decision.
Also, The American Foundation of offers scholarships as
well you now only have a few weeks left now to apply for the AFB scholarships. I
don't know how they award their. However both the ACB and NFB award theirs during
their yearly conventions during the summertime.
Also you should qualify for Vocational Rehabilitation Services
through your state agency for the blind. Beware for them to help you with college
here in the states you have to file for the FAFSA with is the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid and also if your state has supplementary programs to help with
college I would I also apply for those.
Also the state agency will send you to get an assistive technology evalution. Depending on what state your in they may have a seperate agency where they will send you to get the assistive technology evalution for example in if you lived in the Captal region of New York State the Commission for the blind uses the Northeastern Association for the Blind of Albany to do their assistive technoloy evaluation. Another eample is if you live in Buffalo New York the Commission for the Blind in Bufffalo uses the Elizabeth Pierce Olmsted Center For the Visually Impaired.
